BOOK PUBLISHERS

To celebrate its 200th anniversary in 1981, HOFFMANN UND CAMPE Verlag issued the following short statement: “A good publishing house grows like a tree.” The early days of the publishing house were marked by authors such as Heinrich Heine, Friedrich Hebbel, Ludwig Börne and other young and rebellious writers from the circle known as “Junges Deutschland.” This traditional publishing house, which was first partially, and in 1941 completely, acquired by Kurt Ganske, today forms the core of the publishing group’s book activities.

The approach once adopted by publishing legend Julius Campe has remained a hallmark of the publishing program to this day. HOFFMANN UND CAMPE is a large, successful German publisher that promotes both literary works by renowned authors and books from young writers. All the works of Siegfried Lenz, a writer of key importance, have been published by HOFFMANN UND CAMPE since 1951.
